Add to basket8vo, pp. 280. Contemporary calf, boards bordered with a double gilt rule, marbled endpapers, edges red. Some gatherings toned and spotted, title-page foxed. Edges rubbed, corners worn, rebacked with a smooth spine lettered direct in gilt. Irrelevant bibliographical note in pencil to binder?s blank. An early example of the bibliographical complexity which became something of a hallmark of the Foulis Press: issued as an octavo on two different sizes of paper and also apparently impressed as a duodecimo, with the octavo copies found bearing four different title-pages printed at various times in the 1740s. This is the primary ocrtavo issue on large crown paper, with gathering 2K mis-signed and corrected in MS and the title-page having Millar?s name as ?Miller? in the imprint. Gaskell 13; ESTC T137045.
