Diese in den Zeichnungen lebhaft werdende Erinnerung stößt unablässig an akute Abgründe der Existenz - wie bei jenen Künstlern, welche dem in Rom lebenden Cucchi aus dem Norden, von fern her, mal insgeheim und mal offen zusprechen: Edvard Munch, Victor Hugo, Odilon Redon, Alfred Kubin. Sie sind es auch, die mit ihm den Alptraum und die Vision gemeinsam haben. Die durchgehend schwarzweiße Wiedergabe der Zeichnungen Cucchis in zahlreichen Publikationen scheint mittlerweile einen düster-grauen Schleier übers Werk gelegt zu haben. Mit unserer Ausstellung und mit den farbigen Wiedergaben der Werke in diesem Katalog wollen wir einen neuen Blick aufdie Sprache des Zeichen- und des Zeichnungsmaterials bei Cucchi lenken.
