No dust jacket. Margaret N. H'Doubler 1889-1982] was a dance instructor who created the first dance major at the University of Wisconsin where she was Associate Professor of Physical Education for Women. Her dance pedagogy was a blend of expressing emotions and scientific description. She used her knowledge about the body to help create movement to express what the dancers were feeling. She wrote five books about her pedagogy and about the importance of dance in education. This book "is a discussion of the basic aspects and enduring qualities of dance, which are within the reach of everyone. Its main purpose is to set forth a theory and a philosophy that will help us to see dance scientifically as well as artistically." [from the Preface] Wayne LM. Claxton was also on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin.
