United States. Nos. 1 & 2 (1898) C (first two items). D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson represented the British Government at the international enquiry into the fur seal trade in 1896-7. He accompanied several expeditions to the Bering Straits, and the first item is one of a series of official British Parliamentary papers containing his findings. The second item is another British Parliamentary paper with conclusions of the international enquiry into the fur seal industry, which found that the populations inhabiting the Pribyilof Islands had declined since 1884 due to sealing activities. The third item appears to be a deluxe version of the second, reset and printed on high quality paper.
