Sent to booksellers in the UK to promote Dissolution appearing in paperback on 6th August and the publication in hardback of Dark Fire on (appropriately) 5th November 2004. Very uncommon.

8vo. Publisher's advanced proof. Limited edition. #157 of 800 copies. Paperback original. The bottom corner of the first few pages has a faint crease. Signed in blue ink on the limitation page. Fine. Sent to UK booksellers to promote the first appearance of Matthew Shardlake. Unlike the US proof, the UK edition includes a promotional piece by P. D. James which describes the novel and calls the author, 'among the most distinguished on modern historical novelists.' Very uncommon, especially signed and in this condition.

The BOOK is in near FINE condition, and appears unread with just a hint of pushing at the spine tips. The text block remains very clean. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in FINE condition. The scarce publisher's Promotional Wraparound Band is complete and is in FINE condition. The wrapper and band look very striking in the removable Brodart archival protector. The book has been Signed (without dedication) by C.J.Sansom to the title page. A copy of the ticket for the signing event will be provided as provenance. The first title in the hugely successful 'Shardlake' series, which was successfully adapted by Disney+ for TV in 2024.
