Hardcover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 16 pages. Published in 2006. Artist Book. The 37th title in the now-legendary "One Picture Book" Series by Nazraeli Press, one of the most superb ongoing projects of contemporary art photography. Limited Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Accompanied by one tipped-in, original print by the artist/photographer (hence the Series' name). An elegant production by Chris Pichler: Small-size volume format. Titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Ron van Dongen. Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Ron Van Dongen's "A. Angustatum". His second contribution to the One Picture Book Series. "Adding a subtle twist to his first One Picture Book, 'Rosa Ferreus', Ron van Dongen follows up with 'A. Angustatum', a frame-by-frame recording of 'Arisaema Angustatum, 2001', in its transition from a tender, unassuming shoot to the mature Arisaema shown in all its full glory. Van Dongen is the subject of five monographs by Nazraeli Press, the first four of which featured his black-and-white work, while the most recent, 'Effusus', documents the artist's own transition to color work" (Publisher's blurb). One of the things that makes the collection so arresting is that the eroticism of the photographs (which may also be found in Ron van Dongen's "Rosa Ferreus"), is unmistakable yet ever-so-subtle. An absolute "must-have" title for Ron van Dongen collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition, indicated/numbered as such in pencil on the Back Limitation Page. It is very prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in pencil on the Back Limitation Page by Ron van Dongen. It comes with an original color print of "Arisaema Angustatum, 2001". This title is a contemporary art photography classic. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: The remaining copies from the publisher command $150. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A scarce signed copy thus. 13 color plates, 1 original print. One of the finest Dutch artist/photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 1590051610. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. (laminated boards; no dust jacket, as issued) [bumping to corners, no other significant wear]. (B&W photographs, facsimiles) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the title page; the inscription is to film director Vincent Sherman, thanking him "for your memories of this reborn star." A biography of "the Netherlands' first Hollywood star"; in Dutch, but with a three-page synopsis in English near the back of the book. Born Hein van der Niet, the actors worked in Holland and Germany under the name Frits van Dongen during the 1930s, and after moving to the U.S. in 1939 had a decent career as a (primarily) supporting player (as Philip Dorn) during the 1940s and early 1950s, his most notable role being was as Lars "Papa" Hanson in George Stevens's 1948 film I REMEMBER MAMA. His first starring role in Hollywood (one of the few he would ever have) was in the 1941 Warner Bros. film UNDERGROUND, directed by Vincent Sherman, to whom this copy of the book is inscribed; also laid in is a letter from the author to Mr. Sherman, further expressing his gratitude.
