Add to basketHalf-Leather. Condition: Good. Published by Henry Clarence ( John Dicks ! ) Two volumes in one, Undated, written inscription at the front of the book is dated September 1874, This is a bound volume of this Penny Dreadful in 104 parts, a tales of Highway Men, Robbers, thieves and nefarious deeds. Bound in an old half leather binding, And bound without title pages, well illustrated with woodcuts within the text, and sixty double page coloured and tinted plates, book is just under 10 inches tall, 832 pages across the two volumes, the penny part information, can be seen on the inner margins of the individual parts. The British Library copy in 104 parts is recorded with 94 coloured plates, there are only 60 in this copy, though most copies that turn up seem to have no colour plates at all. The plates in this copy start about a third of the way into the book, they are all labelled as colour plates, 30 are full colour and 30 are tinted, The binding is heavily rubbed and worn with splits and cracking along joints, boards loosened but holding. Internally there are a number of short edge tears, and one larger horizontal tear, marking and creasing, the tears have no real loss and I have pictured the worst of them. Two of the colour plates have tearing damage at centre (both pictured) a few pages are loosened but holding, noticeable foxing to a few pages (again the worst of the marking is also pictured) else in acceptable condition. As mentioned, the book is made up of 104 bound parts without title pages. I don't know positively if this is a John Dicks Printing, but on the information in the inner margins the name Henry Clarence is visible. This could be the printers name, or the publisher, though one other story by the same author is listed in the Senate House Library London with Henry Clarence as the publisher,
