    No Binding. Condition: Very Good. First. A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Edward O'Connor Terry (1844-1912), English actor, was born in London, allegedly the illegitimate son of Feargus O'Connor, Irish Chartist leader and advocate of the land plan. Terry's Theatrewas a West End theatre on Strand, in the City of Westminster, London.Built in 1887, it became a cinema in 1910 before being demolished in1923. The theatre was built in 1887, near Fountain's Court, on the siteof a former public house, the Old Coal Hole, and was designed by WalterEmden for the publican, Charles Wilmot and a Dr Web. The theatre wasbuilt to accommodate 800, seated in pit and stalls, balcony and a dresscircle. Fountain's Court was named for 'Fountain's Tavern', where theFountain Club met - formed by Robert Walpole's political opponents. In1826, Edmund Kean, the actor, founded a late supper club here, known asthe 'Wolf Club' for carousing. It ran until the 1850s, introducingentertainments similar to Evans Music-and-Supper Rooms, in nearby CoventGarden. …
