The journal of Alexander McNeill from his time on board the clipper Macduff, when he emigrated from Scotland to Melbourne, Australia in the late 1860s. He wrote of his experiences on board, writing intended for his family back home but which have survived since and now provide a unique insight into life on board.

Paperback. 86p., first edition trade-size wraps decorated with photo of S.F. skyline and vignette of author. A fine copy, with inscription by author to a San Francisco friend signed and datelined 2012. Mendoza's story does not appear to involve state repression, or not directly; but instead poverty, malnutrition and unhappy personal relations. Lives in Daly City.
