Add to basketHard Cover. First Edition. First UK Edition. Publisher's dark salmon-pink cloth lettered in black. Cloth a touch dust-dulled otherwise an exceptionally fresh looking, clean and tight copy with the maroon top stain vibrant in hue. Looks unread so would definitely take a dustwrapprer (if one could be found). NB: prolific author best known for fluffy romances but this is a dystopian post-apocalyptic novel (subtitled A Romance Of The Future) and listed in Locke/ Bleiler, etc. Very scarce as it was written at the start of her career. "The Empty World is a touching yet thrilling sci-fi romance classic from D.E. Stevenson, perfect for fans of Stephen King and Lois McMaster Bujold" (GoodReads). NB: This is the true first edition and not a modern reprint. Photographs/scans available upon request.

Add to basketHard Cover. Dust Jacket Condition: Dust Jacket. First Edition. First UK Edition. Publisher's orange boards lettered and decorated in black to the spine and front/rear boards in pictorial dustwrapper by Eugene Hastain. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. The bookplate of a famous Australian collector (details on request) on the front free end-paper; scattered foxing (chiefly to the fore-edge) overall a VG+ copy. In the rare first edition second state dustwrapper priced 2/6 net to the spine. We know from the English Catalogue of Books that this title was originally sold at 7/6 in 1936 which was reduced to 2/6 in February 1937. The dustwrapper is creased and worn to the spine tips with minor loss there and to the extremities. There is a faint stamp (51139) to the back panel and there is some foxing to the verso. Looking at the spine of the dustwrapper around the printed price of 2/6 it appears that a previous price label has been neatly and professionally removed. The dustwrapper is about VG. Rare in dustwrapper. Photographs/scans available upon request.
