Written by the son of Admiral of the Fleet Lord Keyes of Zeebrugge and Dover, Churchill's liaison officer with the King throughout the fierce battles fought by the Belgians in support of the Allies and whose wish it was to put the record straight with regard to the King. Far from being the traitor claimed by French Premier Paul Reynaud, who turned the Belgian army into the scapegoat for the fall of France, King Leopold gallantly fought on after the British began their evacuation and prevented the BEF being cut off from the coast, thus making possible the miracle of Dunkirk.
