Gleichzeitig Referenzwerk und Katalogbuch zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung im Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía vom 27. April bis zum 29. Juni 1999, im Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao von September bis November 1999 und im Centro Cultural La Rioja von Februar bis März 2000. Das Referenzwerk beschäftigt sich u.a. mit technischen Experimenten von Fotografen und Designern in der Zwischenkriegszeit, wie zum Beispiel: direkte Fotografie (Straight Photography), Fotografie ohne Kamera (Fotogramme), die fotografische Montage, die Verwendung markanter Perspektiven, der Kontrast in diagonalen Linien, die Fragmentierung oder der "Fototyp". Diese Neuerungen bestimmen die visuelle Kultur des Jahrhunderts, die Einflüsse zwischen Fotografie und anderen Kulturleistungen wie Film oder Literatur.
