Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. In the fall of 1991 Roger de la Burdé held an exhibition of some of his art collection at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts, Anderson Gallery. This is the published catalog for the exhibit, titled "Private Stories, Selections from the de la Burdé Collection". The exhibit featured the paintings of Michael Goldberg, Rainer Gross, Jay Milder, and Jeff Way, and was was held from August 23 to October 20, 1991. A typed letter from Roger de la Burdé to a potential patron, dated September 1991, is signed in black ink by Burdé. . The de la Burdé story , itself, became anything but private, when in March of 1992 he was found dead from a bullet wound to the head. Roger de la Burdé was a controversial person, hailing from Poland, who styled himself a count. He owned considerable collections of art, focusing on African Art and Modern Art. The catalog here presented is of Contemporary Art, and has striking color reproductions of the paintings. The letter, signed by Burdé in ink, was found pressed between the leaves of the catalog, and is addressed to a potential patron of the arts and typed on his personal stationery, which has printed at the top, Roger Z. Cte de la Burdé, Windsor, Powhatan, Virginia. The letter is dated September 12, 1991. CATEGORY : Art Exhibition Catalog TITLE : Private Stories - Selections from the de la Burdé Collection ARTISTS : Michael Goldberg, Rainer Gross, Jay Milder, Jeff Way TEXT : Leslie A. Brothers, Assistant Curator and Registrar of the Anderson Gallery INTRODUCTION : Stephen S. High , Director, Anderson Gallery PHOTOGRAPHS : George Nan PLACE : Anderson Gallery, School of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University SPONSOR : de la Burdé Collection of Contemporary Art DATE : August 23 to October 20, 1991 SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES : Laid in is a typed letter from Roger de la Burdé on his personal stationery, to a potential patron, and signed in ink by Burdé. PHYSICAL DETAILS : Exhibition Catalog, contains 10 color plate illustrations on calendered paper; text printed in black and pale gray fonts; title and rear leaf printed on gray, matte paper; 20 pages (pagination includes title page and final leaf; 8 1/2" x 11', matte gray stapled covers with black sans serif lettering (two staples); the title " Private Stories ." spans the front and rear cover. CONDITION -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted :: -- Interior is clean and unmarked; there is fading along spine fold and edge - most extensive on rear cover; a small impact dent on the front cover is barely perceptible, but has extended through all the pages in a slightly more obvious manner - this is not so egregious and displays on the interior as a small dent and surface wrinkle. The letter is pristine.

Hardcover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 1 pages. Published in 2017. Rare Beatrice Rana collectible set. A pristine copy of the Compact Disc (CD) recording of Bach's "Goldberg Variations" with a pristine copy of the Souvenir Program of her February 24, 2019 Chicago recital, both signed by Beatrice Rana. The first and only release on CD. Presents "Bach: The Goldberg Variations". One of the definitive performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's marathon masterpiece. Among his last works, it is a "summing-up" of everything he knew, mastered, and surpassed about the High Baroque canonical style. The "Goldberg Variations" consists of thirty variations on the spare bass line of the opening Aria (instead of the Aria's melody). Beatrice Rana performs all the variations and all of the repeats indicated by Bach, resulting in a recording that lasts 77 minutes and 45 seconds. An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, item for Beatrice Rana collectors. This copy of the Compact Disc (CD) is very boldly and beautifully signed in black pen-marker in front by Beatrice Rana. It is signed directly on the CD Cover itself, as was her preference. It comes with a pristine copy of the Souvenir Program of her Chicago recital, during which event her signature was obtained, also very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen-marker by Rana. This title is a great CD recording. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy (with signed Souvenir Program) of this historic recording available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed set thus. One of the most brilliant pianists of our time. A fine set. (SEE ALSO LARS VOGT TITLE IN OUR CATALOG). Signed by Author.
