Protagonist des Stücks ist der Guckkastenmann Walter, der seinem Publikum seine Gedanken über Napoleon und Gott und die Welt verkündet: "Er hat gelebt ein bewegtes Leben, 'Er hat geträumet von Weltenregierung. Doch ward ihm durch weisere himmlische Führung Das, was er verdiente, auch wirklich gegegeben: Ein trocknes Plätzchen im fluthenden Meer" (Seite 31). - Hinter dem vermeintlichen Herausgeber Harras Springer verbirgt sich der tatsächliche Verfasser, Karl Hermann Moritz Sonntag (1807-1847). - EA (Kosch 18, 319). - Der ausführliche Titel lautet: "Abenteuerliche Schicksale des schottischen Guckkastenmann's. Eine Tragikomödie in zwei Aufzügen. Zum Ergötzen der Oberwelt verfaßt von Napoleon Bonaparte in der Unterwelt und an's Licht befördert durch Harras Springer". - Mutmaßliche Provenienz: eine nicht identifizierte Leihbibliothek des Biedermeier (leihbibliothekstypischer Einband; Rücken und Spiegel mit Spuren von Papiersignaturen; kleine Zahlensignatur auf dem vorderen fliegenden Vorsatzblatt). - Das Bezugpapier des Einbandes mit kleinen Fehlstellen; etwas berieben und bestoßen; innen etwas fleckig/randfleckig; sonst und insgesamt ordentliches, innen gutes Exemplar.

Motiv: 19,5 x 25 cm; Blatt: 35 x 45 cm Blatt leicht stockfleckig, sonst gut. Johannes Klaus (geboren 1847 in Wien; gestorben 1893 in Urfahr bei Linz) 1861 begann er sein Studium an der Wiener Akademie. Er studierte bei Carl Mayer, Carl Wurzinger, Johann Nepomuk Geiger und Louis Jacoby. Klaus stach überwiegend nach bekannteren Werken aber auch nach eigenen Darstellungen. Sprache: Deutsch 1001 gr.
