Winner of the William Faulkner Foundation Award for Best First Novel. Paul Bartel was an actor and director of alternative cinema. His wife Mary Woronov was a regular at Andy Warhol's Factory. He directed Death Race 2000, Eating Raoul, Lust in the Dust, and Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills. He appeared in films by Tim Burton, Roger Corman, Ron Howard, Sam Fuller, Joe Dante and Julian Schnabel. Bartel was an avid book collector.
