Issue thirteen of Tar Magazine, themed around 'heat', featuring thermal imaging "thermodynamic storytelling" and other photographic experiments by 'Reinhardt' (an Effimera Fondazione related entity known for its post-internet aesthetic outlook). Listed contributors include Frank Ghery, Brian Eno, David Byrne, Tania Bruguera, Nico Vascellari, Laurent Piemontesi, posthumous featured work of John Cage, Berkay Bugdanoglu, Bisan Abu Eisheh, Shadi Ghadirian, Abdulnasser Gharem, Sam Lewitt, Shirin Neshat, Lital Dotan / Eyal Perry (Glasshouse), and Matteo Casari. Notable features include artworks and texts by musicians David Byrne, Brian Eno, and Nico Vascellari, feature on Cuban artist Tania Bruguera's art activism, Sam Lewitt's hacked electrical lighting circuits, a sub-section featuring five interviews with performance artists "as a performance-for-magazine" (with Hector Canonge, Jill McDermid, Lital Dotan, Whitney Hunter, and Esther Neff) followed by a series of illustrated texts on performance art, features on Middle Eastern artists including Shadi Ghadirian's spectacular portrait photography of Iranian middle-class women, a rare performance score written by John Cage ('In Search of the Lost Silence'), a feature inspired by Yukio Mishima, etc. Rare. Wrappered paper covers with a decorated printed paper label to the front cover. Slight markings to the cover and label in places. Slight bumping to the corners. The red lettering to the spine has faded but is still legible. Mild toning to the text-block. Black end papers as issued. Free from inscriptions with clean contents. Protected in a loose mylar covering. The book has been signed by the author to the title page: ' Iain Sinclair, 17th March 1999, Hackney'. 'Lud Heat, a book of the dead hamlets' is a mixture of prose and poetry. A very early title from this acclaimed and prolific author. This title has been reprinted in two further limited editions.
