Nonius Balbus auf. Über die Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse des Geschlechts sind wir außergewöhnlich detailliert durch die zahlreichen Statuenbasen informiert, deren größter Teil im Theater der Stadt und im Bezirk der sogenannten gefunden wurde. Dem homonymen Vater des Balbus, lediglich durch den Zusatz pater vom Sohn zu unterscheiden, wurde ebenso wie der Mutter, Viciria A. f. Archa(i)s, auf Beschluß des Stadtrates eine Statue gesetzt (CIL X 1439 f.). Ebenfalls wurde seine Gemahlin, Volasennia C. f. Tertia, von den Decuriones und der Plebs Herculanensis geehrt (CIL X 1435-1438). In welcher Beziehung diese Dame zu C. Volasenna Severus, cos. suff. 44, und P. Volasenna, cos. suff. 54 (?), stand, läßt sich nicht bestimmen, ebenso unbekannt ist das Verwandtschaftsverhältnis der Viciria zu A. Vicirius Proculus und A. Vicirius Martialis, die in den Jahren 89 bzw. 98 den Konsulat bekleideten. - Wikipedia: Leonhard Schumacher (* 13. April 1944 in Sigmaringen) ist ein deutscher Althistoriker. Third (?) U.S. edition. This appears to be a stereotyped reprint of the 157-page 1831 edition published in New York by Wright & Owen (an earlier 1831 Wright & Owen edition published part I only). Early editions include only chapters 1-12; later editions add chapters 13-16 (as here). A very popular, widely read series of Utopian dialogues, first published in 1822 in London and in 1825 in New York, purported to be a transcription of an ancient manuscript, but actually written by Wright. Frances Wright (1795-1852), widely known as Fanny Wright, "was a Scottish-born lecturer, writer, freethinker, feminist, abolitionist, and social reformer, who became a U.S. citizen in 1825. The same year, she founded the Nashoba Commune in Tennessee, as a utopian community to prepare slaves for emancipation, but it lasted only three years. Her VIEWS OF SOCIETY AND MANNERS IN AMERICA (1821) brought her to public attention." - Wikipedia.
