This early arithmetic book is divided in sections: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Linear Measure, US Money, English Money, Metric, Fractions, etc. There are problems, story, problems within each section. There are small illustrations at the beginning of each chapter, several illustrations in some of the later chapters, and a few illustrations occupy a full page. There is an old owner name in pencil with an 1884 date on the front end paper. There is also a lock of hair and a four leaf clover pressed between leaves. The covers are covered with an old fabric jacket hand sewn to cover the book. Most of the pages are clean and free of foxing (the clover has caused some discoloration), and there is generally no writing in the book.
