Jef Verheyen…(1932 -1984) nahm an mehreren Ausstellungen der Künstlergruppe «Zero», die 1957 von Heinz Mack und Otto Piene in Düsseldorf gegründet wurde und bis 1966 existierte. 1961 kam Günther Uecker dazu. Zero knüpfte zahlreiche Querverbindung zu geistesverwandten europ. Künstlern, gemeinsame Ausstellungen u.a. mit L. Fontana («Concetti spaziali»), Yves Klein (monochrome sowie neodadaistische Elemente), Tinguely (kinetische Objekte). Beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Mack, Piene und Uecker in Düsseldorf die sich einem lineraren Tachismus verschrieben, während sich die restlichen Zero-Mitglieder vor allem sich mit dem Licht beschäftigen und Monochrome Malerei schufen. Verheyden spielte in der Gruppe eine wichtige Rolle die leider noch nicht gebührend gewürdigt wird. Werke von ihm hängen im Museum voor Moderne Kunst (PMMK), Oostende, und Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (SMAK), Gent. 1100 gr. Schlagworte: Illustr.
