Brossura. Condition: ottimo. prima edizione. KIPPENBERGER Martin (Dortmund 1953 - Vienna 1997). Berlin - Paris, Verlag Pikasso's Erben [self published], 1979, 21x14,9 cm., paperback [softcover], pp. [198], Artist's book illustrated with a photographic portrait of the artist on the cover. Composed entirely of blank pages, each filled by hand with stickers applied by Kippenberger. The set of illustrations reproduces various images drawn from the artist's family album. Edition of 300 signed and numbered copies. Kippenberger's second artist's book. This copy belonged to the German artist Gabriele Schmidt-Heins and bears a fine artist's dedication to her on the first page. Uniquely, this exemplar differs from all other known copies: in addition to the stickers, Kippenberger has made further collage interventions throughout the book, making it a distinct and particularly personal variant. Dust Jacket Condition: dj. First Edition. First Edition. Octavo. Kippenberger's second artist's book, published on the occasion of his 25th birthday, as one of the earliest instances of his lifelong project of "extensive self-projection" (Baumann in Koch). With all but 2 of the 198 pages blank, the edition of 300 copies was issued along with 93 black-and-white stickers derived from Kippenberger family album photographs; for the first number of signed and numbered copies, Kippenberger affixed the stickers himself throughout the book, but the majority of copies have circulated unsigned, with the stickers loose?and almost always with some number significantly fewer than the total. This copy accompanied by 60 of the stickers (4 x 2.75 inches), preserved in fine condition. (Koch 2). Close to fine in illustrated jacket affixed to plain wrappers. Scarce, with single OCLC record located in North America (NYPL). Signed.

Hardcover. Condition: near fine. First edition. Signed Susanne Kippenberger, Los Angeles, 23. 8. 2011. Octavo. 575 (1)pp. Original photo-illustrated dustjacket over red cloth with white and gray lettering on spine. Photo-illustrated endpapers. Frontispiece photograph. Silver ribbon marker. The Enfant Terrible of German art in the late 20th century here in a portrait by his sister Susanne Kippenberger, an artist obsessed with controlling his actions and their impact who is known for his prolific output in a wide range of styles and media. Susanne talks about her unresting brother growing up in the industrial region of West-Germany, the "Ruhrgebiet," their family, the artist friends visiting the "Open House," his addictions to drugs, alcohol, acknowledgment, and love. The title of one of his larger pieces, "Transportable Subway Entrance," is indicative for this cynical/critical as much as restless artist, considered to be one of the great conceptual artists of the 20th century. Martin Kippenberger died in 1997 of liver cancer at the age of 44. Rare signed copy of this intimate as well as substantial biography. Text in German. DJ, binding and interior in near fine condition.

Signed by the artist! Collector`s copy! "Albrecht Fuchs, born in 1964 in Bielefeld, is a portrait artist who works with photography. His methodology of respectful distance and loving empathy leads to a strange tension in his photographs, despite the quietude and equilibrium in the compositions. Naturally, the people portrayed in the meticulously constructed images, both in terms of the use of light and colour composition, stare at one with open and serious demeanour. They would like to appear sympathisch and as result are a little lost in reverie. And yet upon closer inspection one feels there is a sense of authenticity in the moment here, which one would normally be denied. With his portraits of Martin Kippenberger, Mike Kelley, Paul McCarthy, John Baldessari, Wolfgang Tillmans, Bruno Brunnet, Isabella Rosselini, Joschka Fischer, Ennio Morricone, to name but a few of the more prominent ones, Albrecht Fuchs appears to be our constant companion in magazines such as art, Monopol or newspapers such as Süddeutsche or the FAZ. This current volume contains a large number of photographs selected and ordered by Albrecht Fuchs for the first time." (from the publisher)***************Snoeck, Köln. 2007. Deutsche Erstausgabe.
