Signed on the front cover by Moisey and signed underneath his article by Kokoschka Crease at middle, slight toning otherwise VG. Of some rarity - only one copy could be found at WorldCat (OCLC) the worldÕs largest library catalogue. at the Tate in London and that a photocopy.Philip Moysey (1912 - 1991) was born in London. Won a County of Middlesex Art Scholarship at the age of 14. Studied at Willesden Polytechnic. In 1939 in Cornwall met the Expressionist artist Oskar Kokoschka and became his pupil, which enthused him and changed his life. Moysey showed three times between 1948-1953 at Waddington's in Dublin, Ireland, the second exhibition in 1950 was visited by Kokoschka and Jack Yeats. In 1953 Kokoschka invited Moysey to teach at his School of Vision in Salzburg. In 1960 showed his work for the first time in North America, at Raymond and Raymond in New York. In 1963 his work was included in the Wolfensberg Gallery, Zurich exhibition Oskar Kokoschka and Pupils and with the Contemporary Art Society at Agnew. The pictures listed in this catalogue appear to be mostly done in England with many featuring Hoppickers and farm scenes. The prices asked were from 12 guineas to 25 guineas. Signedes.

Original publisher's light blue cloth lettered dark blue on spine and upper cover. Turquoise and black illustrated unclipped dust jacket lettered black and white. Presentation copy: 'To Mr. David Barran with sincere thanks for allowing me to paint from your towering shell Oskar Kokoschka 22. v. 67.' Loosely inserted A4 printed description with small illustration of the painting Kokoschka produced from the top of the Shell-Mex building in 1959. His wife explained that he painted it entirely on the spot, without sketches, or preliminary studies of any kind. She also said it was arranged through Walter Neurath of Thames and Hudson who knew one of the directors. The book contains an earlier view of London painted in 1926. Sir David Barran (1912 Ð 2002) was one of Britain's most prominent business leaders as managing director and chairman of Shell. Oskar Kokoschka (1886 Ð 1980) was an Austrian artist well known for his intense expressionistic portraits and landscapes. A couple of minute white marks to cloth, dust jacket very slightly rubbed at head and foot, otherwise very good indeed. Slight wear, otherwise very good indeed. Signedes.

The lithographs are in fine condition, protected on each side by the original tissue-guards. The book was issued in conjunction with Kokoschka's first American exhibition, organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. The colophon states that 'Of this edition of 2,000 copies, 200 numbered copies have been specially bound and the lithographs have been signed by the Artist. This is number 168'. The monochrome lithographs, bound in between pages 24 and 25, are signed in pencil, as issued. Signed by Illustrator(s).
