Six etchings - five views and an etched prospectus, all signed, numbered, titled and annotated by Laboureur. This is Set 1 on japon, of a possible 3 complete sets. Laboureur never finished this project. He intended to execute six etching showing the Acropolis from a distance, with various Greek landscapes in the foreground. Ultimately he only produced 5 etchings with an etched prospectus, all here. The editions printed were tiny and the limitations mean that only 3 complete sets could exist. Set 2 has been broken up and individual prints have been sold at auction. Set 3 is in the Bibliotheque Nationale. This is the only possible set which can be owned privately. Provenance: Alphonse Lotz-Brissonneau, the artist's important early patron.
