Na instalação, objetos ou "entes" , fotografias e frases poéticas e políticas, suspensas em fios de aço, atravessam o museu, em uma estrutura posta em movimento pelo Sindicato, composto por um maquinário com duas bicicletas e uma equipe de manutenção, visíveis para os visitantes. Uma coreografia construída no ar, com agenciamento coletivo, Balé literal convida o espectador a participar desta dança a partir da posição que este ocupa no espaço. O livro traz imagens de Balé literal em exposição, desenhos e estudos do projeto da obra, assim como os textos estampados nas Urdiduras exibidas na estrutura. Acompanham as imagens um ensaio de Tania Rivera sobre como a obra se insere no Brasil dos dias de hoje e os jogos de poder nela representados, e um ensaio de Marcia Tiburi que aborda, entre outros pontos, o aspecto político de Balé literal, em relação ao momento do país, em que liberdades eram ameaçadas e a cultura era atacada. O livro traz, ainda, uma entrevista de Elvira Dyangani Ose, curadora da exposição e diretora do MACBA, com a artista.
