by H.[Henry] C.[Clay] Branson. London: The Bodley Head, (1951). First British edition, first printing. "First published in England 1951" statement printed to the copyright page. The sixth of seven well-plotted New York mysteries featuring physician and private detective John Bent, with his talent for analyzing people's behavior and deducing motivations. Faint shadow from a former tiny sticker to the front cover's upper corner, a touch of age-toning to the spine, else sturdy, very good and firm in green linen boards with dark-green embossed titles to the spine; lacking a dust jacket.
