Black background front board with boy in Tudor costume with two stools either side No obvious date but there is a name and date of October 1929 to inside of front board (which also has one of the coloured-in illustrations). Thick paper is used so book is about 1 3/4 inches thick. Illustrated n B&W and two-tone- several of the B&W illustrations have been - mostly - carefully coloured in. Spine has lightly colour-faded now light red with wear to spine-ends and heavy wear to boards' corners which are now down to card. Rubs/wear to edges of boards. Greaseproof covering of colour frontispiece is detached. Greying/browning and foxing to page-edges and light foxing mainly to page-margins to a number of pages o/w pages clean and tidy.
