Wright and Caroline Shipman Whipple. The set comprises : vol. I Adam Bell-Cupid; vol. 2 D.J. - Institution; vol.3 Jack Drum - Puttenham; vol.4 Quarles-Tyndale; vol. 5 Udall - Zouche, Appendix, Index. From the introduction: "To the original and early editions are added modern editions of some books, when later literary or bibliographical research has made them of value and importance. Bibliographical notes and descriptions being desirable in many instances, and a satisfactory selection difficult, collations have been made of every book. Those of tbe modern editions may be found more useful as time advances. Descriptions of the bindings are given for tbe identification of the copies recorded." Top and untrimmed edges duststained, occasional faint spotting, with the wrappers of volumes 1 and 3 somewhat contracted around the spines, otherwise a Good partly unopened set with the remains of some of the glassine dustwrappers (browned and torn with loss).
