Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Reprint of the African Writers Series edition. Illustrated by Bruce Onobrakpeya. Small octavo. Bound with wrappers into two-tone cloth with the title and author inked on the spine. Binding with some edgewear and page edges a bit spotted, wrappers tanned, and text with a tiny bit of occasional foxing and a couple of tiny brief inked notes, very good. Bruchac has had a longtime interest in African literature; as a young man he taught in Ghana, taught African literature at Skidmore College, and published African literature and poetry through *The Greenfield Review* and the Greenfield Review Press. He is quoted as saying of Achebe: "He is one of my greatest inspirations and dearest mentors." The Nigerian author's second novel, and the second volume in his African Trilogy, which includes *Things Fall Apart* and *Arrow of God*. A nice association.
