Haase. - Autor's name handwritten on cover, otherwise very good and clean. - From the text: A decade ago Elhanan Motzkin published a comprehensive interpretation of the painting in the Louvre by Titian (or Giorgione, or Giorgione and Titian) Le Concert champêtre [Fig. 1]. He explained it as a mythology, with its two nude female figures as Inspiration (left) and the Muse Euterpe (= Music). The two young men sitting in the meadow near the well were to be Apollo instructing Paris in the art of the lute; and the rustic herdsman with bagpipe in the background, the foster-father who reared the infant Paris after his exposure by Priam and Hecuba. Motzkin provided critiques of earlier interpretations of the work by Philip Fehl (1957), Edgar Wind (1958), Patricia Egan (1959), and Francis Haskell (1987). Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

Copyright page states that this is one of 60 copies on Holland paper signed and numbered by the author. 148 pages plus last two uncut pages. Interiors are clean and unmarked. Overall, a poor but readable and collectible copy. Signed by Author(s).
