Number '55' of the special edition of only 100 copies printed on Batchelor's Kelmscott hand-made paper and specially bound for the publishers by Zaehnsdorf in full oasis morocco with gilt decorations. Signed by Harley Granville-Barker (Introduction), Charles Ricketts and fellow artist Albert Rutherston (In charge of art editorship for the series). With 12 striking tissue guarded colour illustrations by Charles Ricketts. Part of a series 'The Players' Shakespeare', published on the 400th anniversary of the First Folio. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Lower corners lightly bumped. A couple of light scratches to the rear cover. The spine is slightly faded and the bands gently rubbed. The first six of these volumes are bound in cloth and backed in faux black leather (Skivertex); the last five are bound in full cloth. Cloth color changes from volume to volume. Slipcase color matches cover cloth. One side of slipcase discolored on Henry V volume. Several volumes have slips laid in which are signed or inscribed by Haberman, including one to both of his parents (1975) and one (1978) to his father. Some later volumes are inscribed to members of the Sendor family. Daniel Haberman's Wikipedia entry describes him as "an American poet, translator and graphic designer" and states that he was "instrumental in founding the American Poets' Corner at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City where he was that Cathedral's first Poet-in-Residence, from 1983 to 1986." Wikipedia also reports that he was the graphic designer on 16 Shakespeare volumes so this is not a complete collection of all of the annual Shakespeare volumes designed by him. …

Leather bound. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. One of 295 numbered copies, folio size, 164 pp., signed by Charles Matton-Pascalini, with cloth chemise and slipcase, all text in French. One of the "Collection Gravure Contemporaine" published by the Club du Livre, this highlighting the work of Charles Matton-Pascalini (1931-2008). Matton (who also went by Gabriel Pasqualini) was an artist in many fields: painting, sculpture, photography, and even film. This work with twenty lithographs by the artist. The Club du Livre's mission, in the "Contemporary Engraving" collection, sought "to bring together, through original engraving and the artists who use it, some of the characteristic aspects of contemporary art" (n.b., from preface as translated by Google Lens). They continue: "If we like to give prints a decorative role in wall ornamentation, it seems, ultimately, that we experience a more refined pleasure in discovering them between the leaves of a book alongside the words that inspired them." (ibid) Not only is the artwork visually stunning, but the binding, in true French style, is impeccable.
