The author argues that grading must be calibrated to be a reliable measure of achievement and that the percentile system, for instance, does not differentiate enough at the top end of the scale. As a solution, the author proposes the implementation of a five-division system, more granular and grounded in norms. The text concludes by arguing for consistency and equity in grading systems such that all students are fairly and accurately evaluated. Through statistical analysis of grading data, this book offers a critical examination of educational grading systems and a proposal for their improvement.
