This book delves into the extraordinary life of a man who, long before the renowned spiritualist events in Hydesville, was experiencing profound connections with the spirit world amidst the rugged landscapes of the Rocky Mountains. His journey, commencing in his early childhood and extending through his adventures as a trapper, reveals a tapestry of remarkable mediumistic abilities, including prophetic visions, healing powers, and out-of-body experiences. Serving as a vital testament to the early history of Spiritualism, this work sheds light on a period when communication with spirits was emerging from obscurity and captivating the minds of those seeking answers beyond the veil. The author's experiences challenge conventional notions of reality and offer compelling evidence of a spiritual realm intertwined with our own. He recounts instances where his spirit guide, Mopeloquist, revealed future events with astonishing accuracy, guided him through perilous situations, and provided profound insights into the nature of the afterlife. Through vivid narratives and personal reflections, this book explores themes of human connection, the power of belief, and the quest for understanding our place in the universe. It invites readers to contemplate the mysteries of consciousness, the existence of spirit guides, and the potential for spiritual growth and transformation. Ultimately, this book's insights illuminate the profound impact of spiritual experiences on one man's life and offer a glimpse into the enduring legacy of early Spiritualism in shaping our understanding of the unseen world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Seller: William Matthews/The Haunted Bookshop, Sidney, BC, Canada
Originally published in New Orleans in 1887. A second edition was published in Chicago in 1893. 192 pages, stapled. This copy is missing its covers, and the title page has a large piece missing from the lower part near the spine, affecting one word of the imprint. Title page is also worn around the edge, and has a tear across it; otherwise, a generally very good copy. Apparently the wrappers for this edition contained a portrait of the author - not present here. A rough copy of an uncommon book. See Janet LeCompte: "Pueblo, Hardscrabble, Greenhorn: Society on the High Plains, 1832-1856", for an interesting account of John Brown's mediumistic exploits.
