"" ************************ "" Né à Nantes en 1925, Charles Salou a été très tôt attiré par tout ce qui touche le monde maritime. L'activité du port de Nantes à cette époque n'est sûrement pas étrangère à cet avant-goût des choses de la mer. Sa carrière professionnelle a débuté aux Ateliers et Chantiers de Bretagne. Ancien officier marinier mécanicien, il a servi de 1945 à 1950 à bord du porte-avions Béarn, du croiseur Duguay-Trouin et du croiseur léger Le Terrible. De retour à la vie civile et après une carrière dans l'industrie mécanique où il a exercé des postes de responsabilité, il consacre maintenant une grande partie de son temps à l'étude des navires depuis la naissance de la vapeur jusqu'à nos jours. Membre d'AMERAMI, association pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine maritime, il a étudié et réalisé au sein d'une équipe l'aménagement intérieur de sous-marin Argonaute à la Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie du parc de la Villette à Paris, afin de la présenter en musée. Holland House bookplate also to pastedown, with usual crayon markings to bookplate. (An early Jacobean country house in Kensington, known as the Whig social epicentre of the early 19th century). During his visit to Paris in 1765, David Garrick was presented with a collection of miniature portraits by Faesch of actors at the Comedie-Francaise. The artist pursued the connection, arriving in London in May 1768 with an introduction to England's greatest actor and within two years saw the first series of his theatrical portrait engravings published by Sayer. He went on to portray many actors and actresses of the Comedie-Francaise and Comedie-Italienne in Paris and Drury Lane Theatre in London.
