unbound. 1 page, 10.75 x 8.25 inches, Culver City, California, December 12, 1944 -- a frantic letter informing Ida Ostro that he has lost Jean Cocteau's script, in full: "I haven't got the script of "Les Parents Terribles" by Cocteau. I must have returned it! I always do return scripts. And I have looked high and low among all my books and scripts and not a sign of it! I feel awful about this, as I am usually so careful about things like that - I have no memory of giving it to anyone, either. I will keep racking my brains for further clues. I have always loved the play and would certainly like to direct it, if anyone produces it." Note: in 1948 Jean Cocteau directed the film version of his play "Les Parents Terribles: and came to regard it as his best film ever. Natural folds; very good(+) condition. Iconic American actor, director, teacher, and founder of the influential Actors Studio in New York City in 1947. He was an early proponent of the Stanislavski System of acting technique and a founding member of New York's revolutionary Group Theatre in the 1930s.
