It is an account of Barracks life at the time.

Blue cloth covers with gilt lettering, in slipcase with paper title label as issued, slipcase rubbed at corners. The actual first American edition had been restricted to just 50 copies (only ten of which were for sale, at $500,000 each!, published by Doubleday in 1936 as a copyright edition. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Handsome marbled endpapers. Just a hint of wear to the corner tips and to several extremities, and a small area of fading to the head of the rear board. Very good indeed. No dust wrapper, as issued, but lacking the slipcase. Published posthumously and edited by Lawrence's brother, this issue precedes the trade issue which appeared later the same year. O'Brien A172.
