Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. VERY FINE without any flaws. Personally signed by Neil Gaiman directly onto the title page. William Morrow. An Imprint of HarperCollins Publishers 2012. Neil Gaiman "Neverwhere: The Author's Preferred Text". Hardcover illustrated edition. Signed First Edition, Later Printing. Personally signed by Neil Gaiman directly onto the title page of the book. Illustrated by Chris Riddell. "FIRST U.S. EDITION" as stated. No dust-jacket as issued. Very Fine without any flaws. Neverwhere Neverwhere is the companion novelisation written by English author Neil Gaiman of the television serial Neverwhere, written by Gaiman and devised by Lenny Henry. The plot and characters are exactly the same as in the series, with the exception that the novel form allowed Gaiman to expand and elaborate on certain elements of the story and restore changes made in the televised version from his original plans. Most notable is the appearance of the Floating Market at Harrods (in the novel) rather than under Battersea power station (the TV series). This is because the management of Harrods changed their minds about proposed filming. The novel was originally released by BBC Books in 1996, three episodes into the television series run. It was accompanied by a spoken word CD and cassette release, also by the BBC. The novel enjoyed great success, whereas its television roots did not receive as much international exposure as the novel. In addition to being translated into various languages, it was also re-published as an "Author's Preferred Text" version (a combination of the international and original English version, with additional scenes re-inserted by Gaiman) alongside American Gods in 2006. The original BBC Books version had a cover by longtime Gaiman collaborator Dave McKean, taken from the bird's head rings, flaming fist and London Underground styled graphics created by McKean for the series, as well as a brief section by Gaiman on the making of the series. "Neil Gaiman is undoubtedly one of the modern masters of fantasy writing. For those who have not read Neverwhere, the new edition is the one to read, and is a fitting introduction to Gaiman's adult fiction.American readers can experience this spellbinding, magical world the way that Neil Gaiman wanted us to all along." ?Huffington Post The #1 New York Times bestselling author's ultimate edition of his wildly successful first novel featuring his "preferred text"?and including his special Neverwhere tale, "How the Marquis Got His Coat Back". Published in 1997, Neil Gaiman's darkly hypnotic first novel, Neverwhere, heralded the arrival of a major talent and became a touchstone of urban fantasy. It is the story of Richard Mayhew, a young London businessman with a good heart and an ordinary life, which is changed forever when he discovers a girl bleeding on the sidewalk. He stops to help her?an act of kindness that plunges him into a world he never dreamed existed. Slipping through the cracks of reality, Richard lands in Neverwhere?a London of shadows and darkness, monsters and saints, murderers and angels that exists entirely in a subterranean labyrinth. Neverwhere is home to Door, the mysterious girl Richard helped in the London Above. Here in Neverwhere, Door is a powerful noblewoman who has vowed to find the evil agent of her family's slaughter and thwart the destruction of this strange underworld kingdom. If Richard is ever to return to his former life and home, he must join Lady Door's quest to save her world?and may well die trying. Signed by Author(s).

He classes himself as a creative all-rounder, comfortable designing from the side of matchbox to large murals, be it pencil, pen, paint or pixel, he's happy using them all. Synopsis: Under the streets of London there's a world most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armour and pale girls in black velvet. "Neverwhere" is the London of the people who have fallen between the cracks. Strange destinies lie in wait in London below - a world that seems eerily familiar. But a world that is utterly bizarre, peopled by unearthly characters such as the Angel called Islington, the girl named Door, and the Earl who holds Court on a tube train. Now a single act of kindness has catapulted young businessman Richard Mayhew out of his safe and predictable life - and into the realms of "Neverwhere." Richard is about to find out more than he ever wanted to know about this other London. Which is a pity. Because Richard just wants to go home. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: None (as issued). 1st Edition. SIGNED on the special signature page by the AUTHOR, 1 of 1000 copies (#790, if it matters). Author's Preferred Text. Bound in deep blue-black cloth with gold embossed imagery on cover and lettering on spine, in like-bound slipcase with die-cut window for image. Done in the style of Hill House's previous publications, but their bankruptcy led to Morrow's assumption of the project, and they kept the same production design. Special addendum to this limited edition: "The Neverwhere Files"--material from the author's files that give a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the evolution of the novel. Tucked nicely into the original shipping box like a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore. You'll feel as though you've been wandering over the hills and far away, beyond the fields we know, through faery lands forlorn, once this book is in your hands! Signed by Author(s).
