Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Biography of Sgt. Pilot Thomas Brian Kirk who flew with 74 squadron during Battle of Britain. Following him from his early years on the family farm in North Yorkshire to joining 608 squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force as an Airman Pilot under Training in the summer of 1939. From there to Tiger Moths at Sywell, and then to the more complicated Miles Master's at Montrose. In early July 1940 he converted to Spitfires and joined the famous 74 'Tiger' squadron at Hornchurch. He flew with them until he was shot down just before the end of the Battle of Britain in October 1940. He spent another 9 months in hospital before succumbing to his injuries and died in July 1941. Written with full support and encouragement of Brian's surviving family. Illustrated with photographs, 304 pages, A4 size, Gloss card covers. Also in hardback. Extra postage applies overseas. Review comments from aviation writer Bob Cossey "a fascinating read, meticulously researched, a real insight into his life in the RAF in those early wartime days as well as a social history of the Kirk family. Adds significantly to what we have in the 74 Squadron archive". Signed by Author(s).
