6 1/4 x 10 1/4 in., 38 pp., paper over boards. "Aposieopeses is defined on the title page as 'sudden bursts of silence.' The book gathers a collection of Odds & Ends words which, when asked to expand on them, 'include two [of Williams's] constant preoccupations: eccentrics and epitaphs." Jonathan Williams, Aposieopeses "For those who take the time to listen, his [Williams's] is a voice firm enough to scratch, clear enough to shine, and deep enough to vibrate in your mind long after the reading." J.W. Bonner, The Arts Journal "These poems are guaranteed not to cause Herpes, Leprosy, AIDS, Lumbago, or Terminal Boredom. Still, where are readers in 1986 willing to bring an almost virtuoso attention to such demotic words that strive to besimply and not so simplyboth plain and good? Professors, Prudes, and Poetry Lovers continue to find the going tough and the pickings slim from such a hick epicureanism." Jonathan Williams Frontispiece portrait of Jonathan Williams by R.B Kitaj. Designed and printed letterpress on Frankfurt White by Philip Gallo at The Hermetic Press. Paste-paper for covers made by Claire Maziarczyk. This is from an edition of 65 copies bound in boards at the Campbell-Logan Bindery (of which 15 are hors commerce) signed by Williams and Kitaj. There were also 100 copies bound in paper wrappers signed by Williams. Out-of-print. This is no. 38 from the paper wrappers, signed by Williams.
