Bartning ////////// Carl Otto Bartning (* 2. September 1909 in Berlin; gest. 11. November 1983 ebenda) war ein deutscher Filmeditor. Der Sohn des Malers und Kunstprofessors Ludwig Bartning erhielt seine Ausbildung von 1928 bis 1932 bei der Filmgesellschaft Tobis. Bereits in den 1930er Jahren war er für den Schnitt vieler deutscher Filmproduktionen zuständig. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges beteiligte er sich in seiner Funktion als Editor an der propagandistischen Aufbereitung von Filmmaterial über das Kriegsgeschehen. Ab 1950 editierte er bis in die 1970er Jahre zahlreiche bundesdeutsche Erzeugnisse, darunter auch Bernhard Wickis drastischen Antikriegsfilm Die Brücke (1959). Außerdem trat Bartning als Grafiker in Erscheinung, so wurden 1966 in der Berliner "galerie miniature" (Camilla Speth) Lithografien von ihm gezeigt (Motive zu Kafka).

Nach einer Ausbildung zum Ziseleur in Schwäbisch Gmünd studierte er an der Nürnberger Akademie bei Hans Wimmer, später war er Meisterschüler von Bernhard Heiliger in Berlin. 1971 entwarf Nuss das Kopfrelief des früheren Bundespräsidenten Theodor Heuss für das Zwei-Mark-Stück und in Hameln wurde 1975 sein Rattenfänger-Brunnen aufgestellt. Mit seinem Vater trug er eine Gemäldesammlung meist schwäbischer Künstler zusammen, die sich heute in einem Museum in Strümpfelbach befindet. Nagel, Schwäbisches Künstlerlexikon S. 90. Sprache: de.
