Presumed to be an ex-library copy of the first UK and the first hardcover edition although there are no stamps or other library markings. Originally published in the US by Dell in 1958 as a paperback original under the title 'Girl out Back.' The boards have a little light surface marking. The page edges are heavily browned and have some brown spotting in places. Heavy browning to the endpapers with three vertical tape marks at both the front and rear endpapers and a little surface damage to the front pastedown. Heavy brown staining around the bottom corners from page 10 through to page 27. There are also small spots and stains to quite a large number of the pages through the book. The jacket has light edge wear with slight chipping at the base of the spine and at the corners. First printing.…

Minor bumps to corners and a touch of foxing to the end-papers and the page block edges overall a VG++ copy. The VG++ D/W is lightly rubbed and foxed to the verso and is a clean and attractive complete example. With the RARE "CRIME CONNOISSEUR SELECTION WRAP-AROUND BAND" (unique to this title). In our experience the wrap-around band is decidedly uncommon (the first we have encountered). A bright and crisp copy of this extremely scarce Williams title (published in paperback by Dell in the U.S.A. as "Girl Out Back"). This is the first hardcover printing of this title.
