First edition, first printing. Limited edition of 500 hand-numbered and signed copies. Three volumes sharing the following format: Hardcover. Fine cloth-covered boards with tipped-in four-color plate on cover; no dust jacket as issued; contained in a custom clamshell box. 188 total pp., with 92 duotone and 60 four-color plates. 11 x 8 inches. New. From the publisher: "Coinciding with a major exhibition of David H. Gibson's photographs at Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden in Dallas, Texas, this gorgeous new publication comprises three separate clothbound volumes spanning some thirty years of work. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies and presented in a custom-made clamshell box, Images, Panoramas, Sequences is a long-overdue survey of Gibson's highly-acclaimed photographic output. Working quietly and without regard to passing trends, David H. Gibson has created a body of work that celebrates the ethereal beauty of our natural world and consistently reminds us of our own place within it. As John Rohrbach sums up, 'The images filling this book exude a sense of quiet solitude. I don't feel the need to enter his photographs, to stand there with the artist. Gibson gives me the freedom to stand there by myself and to revel in scenes that cannot be described in words.' David H. Gibson's photographs have been widely exhibited in the United States and Europe, and are housed in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including those of Amon Carter Museum, Ft. Worth; Dallas Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and Philadelphia Museum of Art. Gibson is the subject of several monographs; Images, Panoramas, Sequences is his second publication with Nazraeli Press." Signed by Author.

Condition: Fine. Folding halftone (11 panels) of Eadweard Muybridge's famed 360-degree panoramic view of San Francisco made from the original seventeen-foot-long photograph. With margins, the folding halftone measures 1511 x 171mm and folds into the original red cloth binding lettered in gilt. Offered with the First Printing (so stated), trade issue, of Klett's accordion-fold book revisiting and reinterpreting Muybridge's panoramic view, with essays by Klett and Peter Bacon Hales. Royal 4to (305 x 241mm): 13ff accordion-fold black-and-white plates on card stock, 12pp of text. Bound concertina-style in publisher's pictorial covers (without dust jacket, as issued), saffron-yellow end papers. Signed by Klett on title page. Recto of accordion-fold reproduces the 360-degree mammoth panoramic view taken of San Francisco in 1878 from atop Nob Hill by Muybridge; on verso, same panoramic view taken in 1990 by Klett. In July, 1878, Eadweard Muybridge completed a seventeen-foot-long "Panorama of San Francisco from California Street Hill," constructed from thirteen albumen prints taken with a camera using 18 x 22 inch plates from the tower of the Mark Hopkins mansion, then the highest point in San Francisco, commanding a sweeping view of the city, its harbor, and San Francisco Bay. Muybridge printed only nine copies, and only five are now known to exist (Thomas C. Russell issued this facsimile edition in 1910). One hundred and twelve years later, on April 12, 1990, Mark Klett stood on the terraces of the 16th floor of the Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental Hotel and re-photographed the same panoramic view. The result is One City / Two Visions, an accordion-fold book that illustrates back-to-back Muybridge's and Klett's views. It is fourth in the publisher's series of accordion-fold artist books, and was also issued in a limited edition of 100 copies in slipcases, each signed and numbered by Klett, with an original print by Klett, signed and numbered. N. B. With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, with dust jackets carefully preserved in archival, removable mylar sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed. 4 albumen photographs, 260 x 329 mm. Four original albumen photographs showing panoramas of Jerusalem, including the "Mosque d'Omar" (the Dome of the Rock, or Qubbat as-Sakra) and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, as they stood in the middle of the 19th century. - Little is known about the Austrian photographer Otto von Ostheim, despite the numerous beautiful photos of the Holy Land and Middle East that he took during his travels. A former cavalry officer, at some point he retired to become a photographer with a studio in Jerusalem. He accompanied, as official photographer, tours of the Levant undertaken by the Count of Paris, the Duke of Chartres and the Count of Chambord. - Only one of the four is visibly signed and dated in-plate (the "Mosque d'Omar"), and its date quite early year of 1860, a full decade earlier than the later and better-known photographers of the Holy Land who began work in the 1870s. - Two photos lightly faded, subtle creasing at corners; very well preserved.
