It is partially set in Waye County and Detroit. This was his first novel. Original red cloth publisher's covers with black spine and cover lettering. There is a previous owner's Christmas inscription on the front free end paper dated 1939, else there are no bookplates or other markings in the book; a little dust spotting to the foredge. The dust jacket is worn, especially at the top and bottom at the spine, else it is still quite serviceable. Second printing was 2 months after the first. Ref: Beasecker 1095 ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 320 pages.
