Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Only a small bit of foxing on the top edge of the book. A romantic Edwardian/Victorian novel about a woman named Penelope as she explores life in Europe. Part of the Penelope's Experiences series. This is a sequel to A Cathedral Courtship. Chapters are the following: "Penelope in Switzerland," "Penelope in Venice," "Penelope in Devon," and "Penelope at Home." Kate Douglas Wiggin (1856-1923) was an American author and educator. She wrote many children's books and spent most of her life advocating for the well-being and education of children during a time when children were thought of as cheap labor. She and her sister, Nora, were instrumental in establishing over sixty kindergartens in San Francisco and Oakland.
