This lavish biography of Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920), creator of the famed Fabergé eggs, was written by the manager of the jeweller's London emporium. A further 1,750 copies printed on machine-made paper and bound in cloth were also issued. Quarto. Portrait frontispiece, 126 plates, including 2 doubles and 16 in colour, title page printed in red and black, errata slip tipped in after p. xxiv. Original blue half morocco, spine with raised bands, compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, cream cloth sides with Imperial Russian lesser coat of arms blocked in gilt to front cover, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. With original light blue cloth slipcase, lined with brown felt.
