Vellum. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. Small square quarto, 95pp., illustrated by E. H. Shepard. A fine copy in the publisher's limp vellum, titled in gilt on the front board. Apparently issued in a plain cardboard slipcase, which is not present. Very mild and typical curling to the vellum, though it remains sound and supple. Fresh and bright; a handsome example of the deluxe issue, number 8 of just 15 copies printed on Japan vellum and issued in this binding, SIGNED by both Lucas and Shepard on the limitation page. The paper lends itself beautifully to Shepard's thin and delicate line drawings. Notably published just a year before "Winnie the Pooh," a breakout success which brought Shepard's illustrations worldwide fame. Scarce.
