Condition: Good. Original author's partial typescript for the autobiography that would be published in 1941 as The Pool of Memory. Approximately 153 leaves, 11 x 8.5", housed in a brown paper folder with author's signature, tentative title Memoirs, and "Author's Copy" handwritten on front cover. Tentative titles written as Nough…ts and Crosses, which is crossed-out, and Memoirs on the first page. Good with light soiling, toning and creasing to leaves, numerous holograph corrections by the author throughout, potentially providing useful information to scholars studying Oppenheim's life and work. Paper folder is fragile with tears and heavy toning. The first thirteen chapters (of 34?) of the original manuscript for this memoir by the prolific, popular mystery writer. It was serially published in newspapers in 1936 as Memoirs of a Mystery Man. Oppenheim was featured on the cover of Time magazine in 1927 after having gained a wide readership for his whodunits.
