First Edition
First edition. Inscribed "To my best friend E.Q. McCormick this Christmas Day December 25, 1922. Eugene H. Grubb." Full leather, raised bands and gilt on spine, [28], 545pp., half-title, frontis, portraits, dedication, authors' preface, numerous illustrations, charts, maps, appendix. Portraits of W.C. Brown, President of New York Central Lines-a leader in agricultural progress, Luther Burbank, the world's greatest plant breeder, and James Wilson, Secretary of Agriculture. The potato is one of the most complex foods known to man as it reacts to climactical conditions constantly. Contained within this volume is the most comprehensive information up until the time of publication. Growing conditions and locations have changed somewhat in the intervening time period, and man has learned ways to better protect and adjust to the potato, but little can be added to the history as presented in this book. A beautiful copy and we suspect a few copies were specially bound and given to the authors for presentation. Fine copy.
