Original publisher's green cloth - gilt embossed to the spines and each front board with a vignette of a lady musing over a ledger. No inscriptions. All plates as called for. The text blocks and the pages remain very clean with just some light scattered or very scattered foxing. Notable mottling to the cloth - volume 1 - to the cloth of the rear board and only slightly so to the lower corner of the front board; Volume 2 - slight mottling to the cloth of the rear board, Volume 3 - notable staining and mottling to the cloth of the rear board; Volume 4 - light mottling to the cloth of the rear board and a notable stain to the corner of the same board measuring approximately 9cm x 7cm.
