Inside are12 photocopied photos of Ginsberg taken by well-known Czech photographer Jiriho Stivina. Stivina has also signed and dated the front of the folder. The folder has information printed on the inside, but I have not broken the seal to read it. INSCRIBED TO SIDNEY LUMET AND SIGNED BY CZECH FILM DIRECTOR JAROMIL JIRES - Quarto [approximately 11 inches high by 9-1/4 inches wide], black cloth titled in white with an vignette in black & white on the front cover, in a dust wrapper. The binding is lightly rubbed, especially at the corners of the covers and at the head & tail of the spine. A small scrap of paper adheres to the top corner of the rear cover where the dust wrapper was stuck to the binding. The dust jacket is rubbed & chipped with a tear to the bottom edge of its front panel. 293 & [2] pages plus colophon. Profuse black-and-white photographic illustrations. Good. A wonderful association copy inscribed to American film director Sidney Lumet by Czech film director Jaromil Jires on the title page: "NY february 87 / To Mr. Sidney Lumet with [love: here Jires draws the heart used in the New York promotional campaign] Jaromil Jires / PS I understand well your love to New York City, because I feel the same to Prague".Jaromil Jires [1935-2001] wrote and directed the West German documentary "Sidney Lumet: I Love New York" in 1987--the date of this inscription. In his own country in the 1960s, Jires was often in conflict with the censors, which limited his output. Among his productions were "The Cry", entered in the 1964 Cannes Film Festivsl,and "The Joke", adapted from Milan Kundera's novel. He was associated with the Czechoslovak New Wave movement.
