The jacket is neatly clipped with touches of edgewear, slight chip to foot of spine. Rear panel with mild grubbiness. Verso of jacket shows some foxing. Now in a removable protective sleeve.Offsetting from jacket flaps to end papers. Signed 'Sven' to front free endpaper and dated '94. The story of Berlin's pre artist life as an acrobatic dancer on the stage where he performed on the same bill as such luminaries as Max Miller, the Crazy Gang and George Formby. Berlin [1911-199] was an English painter, sculptor and writer. He is best known for his fictionalised autobiography 'Dark Monarch' published in 1962 and swiftly withdrawn due to a libel action. That book tells the story of a rift amongst the artists in St Ives including Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth. Signed by Author(s).
