This lovely little book shows the stages of color separation of a woodblock print in 20 plates, with the verso showing the block for each color and the recto showing the progress of the print (Kiyonaga's "Ferry over the Sumida"). Introductory text in English and Japanese. No date given; circa 1920's. "Japanese Wood Cuts" written in ink on blank spine. Bound with red cords. Previous owner's name is on the inside of front cover. Light edge wear and a few small creases on the edges of some prints near the gutter. Small tear on rear cover.
